In Loco Parentis by Oliphantics.
The lawyer plays with the child. She places her wig on the child. The phone is off the hook. Pen and paper for drawing. The lawyer does not want to be interrupted.
Is the toddler at issue in a custody battle? Are the parents fighting over the child? Is the barrister keeping the child amused during a break in proceedings?
Perhaps symbolising not only the lawyer’s important legal role in representing the child’s interests in place of the parents but showing her protective, nurturing and caring role in loco parentis.
Perhaps the barrister is the child’s mother and the child is not involved in the proceedings. Perhaps there is no child care and the mother is juggling her work as a lawyer and caring for her child. She must bring her child to work, to chambers.
